DIY Brownie Blizzard for a Virtual Baby Shower

When Joelen contacted me about joining in with the throwing of a virtual baby shower for a dear blogging friend, I was so excited!  Jessica, from the Jey of Cooking, is due with a sweet baby girl in just a few weeks.  Even though a baseball themed baby shower may not be super traditional for a girl, she will be born into a family of Cubs baseball fanatics.  Truly,  this theme couldn't be more fitting.

After a little sleuthing and emailing, I found out that Jessica has had a fondness for brownie Blizzards during this pregnancy. I, myself, am a huge brownie lover, so I had absolutely no problem whipping these up for her!!

As far as party food goes, this really was very simple.  Ice cream. Chocolate sauce. Brownies.  Done.

You can make all of the components at home or you can buy them pre-made.  This is definitely a method that is super adaptable.

DIY Brownie Blizzard
Printable Version
makes 4-6 8 oz. cups of brownie Blizzards

1 quart vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
~1/4 cup chocolate syrup, more or less to taste
splash of milk, if necessary
1 (9x13-inch pan) of brownies

1. Chop brownies into ½-inch pieces and place on a freezer safe plate. Freeze until solid.
2. Using a blender, combine vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, working in batches if necessary. Add a splash of milk if ice cream is too thick to blend.
3. Remove ice cream from blender to a large bowl and stir in half of the brownie pieces, reserving half for garnish.
4. Ladle into desired serving dishes and place in freezer until ready to serve. Remove from freezer about 10 minutes before serving so that they are soft enough to eat with a spoon.
